When you want to get into basketball, but have never really been all that good at the game, a basketball system just might help you improve. You might even be able to turn a few heads by playing against people who don't really understand all that basketball entails. Basketball systems are very convenient. You can buy a basic Lifetime Basketball System in most sporting goods stores and be playing basketball the next day. But, when you build a portable basketball system, there's also important to remember to follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully, especially the last step of assembling the portable base. And, that means from the very first step to the last instruction on filling the sand box.

Here are some instructions to follow if you're assembling your own basketball system. Before you even start, you need to make sure that you have the proper hardware. This would be the nuts and bolts that secure the base to the ground. If you don't have these, then it's time to go buy some. Two adults should be able to manage the assembly of a single basketball system; however, if you have more than two adults (including one child), please have them lie down at the same time, and work as a team.

Now, to assemble the basketball system itself, you will need a sturdy wood pole (at least two feet long). A piece of rope or thread should be tied to each end of the wood pole. The length of the rope or thread is up to you. You may use either a broom handle or an old coat hanger. As long as there is some way for your hands to grip the pole, the assembly process should go rather quickly.

Once the pole is ready, attach the hardware and attach the hoops. The instructions will tell you how to do this. Then comes the fun part: putting it all together! The instructions may tell you to put the sandpaper on the bottom of the basketball hoop and smooth the sand with the palm of your hand. That's all there is to putting together a simple sanded wooden basketball system!

Hopefully you now have the best understanding of how to assemble basketball systems. And if there are parts displayed in your instructions that don't match the hardware required, check the directions to see whether they're correct or not. In many cases, the instructions aren't clear and the parts identifier shown may be misaligned or printed in different sizes. If this happens, you can always contact customer service to find out why this is happening.
